27th January

On 27th January we have Mr Oakes coming to speak to us about the Swinging Sixties, and we have been challenged to dress in the style of the time. We will go down memory lane and revisit the era when Britain saw some big changes in music, clothing and women's lives.

24th February

February 24th has Jeff Rozelaar returning to give another entertaining talk, this time about his life in the theatre, treading the boards, and I'm sure he will bring laughter to the meeting as he did with his last visit to us.

13th March

On March 13th we will be hosting local WIs at our annual Quiz night. This is always great fun, and along with the chance to show off our general knowledge, its a great way to meet new friends over a ploughmans supper.

30th March

The talk on March 30th is from Merier Duncan, who will share her passion for the honey bee. She will explain why the honey bee is so important to the planet, and enthuse us to do more to protect us and grow the honey bee population.

Village Hall clock

In celebration of 100 years of the WI in England and Wales in 2015, we ordered and had installed a wonderful clock in the porch at the Village Hall which was featured in the Bucks Federation Women's Institute (BFWI) newsletter.

Some Past Events:

June 2019 Meeting

Our June speaker was Anthony Wood, who explored with us the life of Pamela Digby Churchill Heywood Harriman, whos' lengthy name is matched only by her lengthy list of activities. Was she a spy, a socialite, diplomat or all of these? Those who joined us discovered more about this English born American political activist.

July 2019 Meeting

On July 29th, we were joined by a member of Marlow Refugee Action who gave us an insight into the work done to help support Syrian refugees who have found themselves living in refugee camps away from their homes. We gained some understanding of the things that can be done to help people cope in these trying environments, which is not just about providing food and clothing.

March 2019 Meeting

You may have seen the TV programme "Emergency Helicopter Medics" on More4. In preparation for this we had Claire Kedrup from the Stokenchurch Air Ambulance Service come to talk to us at our meeting on March 25th. She gave us an insight into who they are, what they do and how we can help to support this not for profit charity that saves lives every week of the year. Those who came along learned how important the Air Ambulance is to the medical profession.

The Great British Spring Clean

Between 22nd of March and 23rd of April 2019, Keep Britain Tidy challenged all litter pickers to get involved in the Great British Spring Clean.

We would like to thank the members of the WI who joined the Lane End conservation group on April 6th, to help support the Great British Spring Clean. We had an enjoyable couple of hours meeting new people and collecting over 20 sacks of rubbish from around the village. Well done to all involved!

April 2019 Meeting

This month, we were treated to a talk by Simon Michael, who was a barrister for many years. He shared some of his stories both surprising and entertaining that he has encountered during his life in court. The television has given many of us an idea of the stresses and strains of such a job, but Michael brought the subject to life with real examples of the challenges as well as the good times he has experienced.
